Only 12 of the 28 Facebook accounts using the name of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa are still up days after the police organization asked them to deactivate the pages.

On Wednesday, Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz, head of the PNP Police Community Relations Group, said the creators of the Facebook accounts have already revealed their true identities and even removed the name and picture of Dela Rosa on their pages.

“Iyong iba ginamit na ang totoong pangalan nila sa account nila, inalis na nila yung mukha ni Chief Dela Rosa at pangalan ni Chief, iyong iba, binitawan at hindi na ginamit,” Cruz told reporters.

He said they were able to remove those who post lewd photos and extorting money from the public.

“Kumonti na yung fake Facebook niya. Iyong mga nagpopost ng sexy natanggal na ganun din ‘yung naga-attempt mag-extort,” he said.

He said many of the account creators and administrators used the name and picture of Dela Rosa on their pages to gather likes and supporters.

“Iyong iba kaya naglalagay ng pangalan ni Chief at saka ng picture ni Chief e nagpaparami ng likes lalo na kung may business. Halimbawa kung sa isang games gusto nilang palakasin yung games, paparamihin yung likes, ilalagay yung games tapos picture ni Chief Bato so dumadami yung likes,” he said.

“Kapag meron silang tinitindang produkto syempre nababasa ng mga tao. Ngayon ang nilagay nila iyong totoong pangalan nila,” he added.

Cruz said he allowed some of the supporters of Dela Rosa to continue managing the page but they will be monitored by the PNP.

“Sinasala pa rin namin dahil iyong iba supporter naman,” he said.

He is hoping that only the official account of Dela Rosa will remain, as well as supporters who are allowed by the PNP chief himself.

“Yung matitira na lang yung dalawang FB account niya at ibang supporters na in-allow naman ni PNP chief na gamitin,” he said.

Cruz earlier said the creators of fake accounts could be held liable for identity theft.

He said they will refer the said accounts to the Anti-Cyber Crime Group and even to Facebook management for the taking down of the fake accounts.
