Several people were injured in an explosion Friday night along Quezon Boulevard, near the Quiapo Church in Manila, police said.

The blast occurred at around 10:49 p.m., according to the Barbosa police community precinct.

Chief Insp. John Guiagui of the Eastern Police District said "a number of people" were hurt in the blast.

Manolo Jeremias, official of Brgy. 391 in Manila said at least 5 people were hurt, 2 of them were seriously injured.

National Capital Region Police Office regional chief Director Oscar Albayalde told radio DZMM that eyewitnesses reported seeing two men on a motorcycle throwing an explosive in the area.
